Devoll hydropower project (HPP) consists of two hydropower plants, Banjë (72MW) and Moglicë (184 MW), both of which are located on the Devoll River in Albania. Devoll Hydropower Sh.A (DHP) developed the project on the basis of a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer Concession, agreed in 2009.

The assessment was carried out using the Hydropower Sustainability Assessment Protocol. The Protocol assesses 20 topics and assigns scores for each between 1 and 5, with 5 representing Proven Best Practice and 3 representing Basic Good Practice

Devoll HPP is the largest hydropower concession in Albania, and Statkraft is one of the largest foreign investors. Statkraft and DHP have established standards hitherto unseen in Albania in governance, project management, infrastructure, and environmental and social responsibility, delivering profound change in the Devoll valley with the potential to generate benefits for economic development.

Devoll HPP meets or exceeds all basic good practice criteria on 16 of the 19 topics evaluated through the assessment, and meets proven best practice criteria on four topics (see diagram, below).
