Implementing and managing the HS Standard and Tools

The Hydropower Sustainability (HS) Secretariat is delegated to act on behalf of the Hydropower Sustainability Council (HS Council) and its Governance Committee (HSGC) to manage the implementation and day-to-day operations of the HS Standard and Tools. The role of Hydropower Sustainability Secretariat is carried out by IHA Sustainability, which is a not-for-profit sub-division of the International Hydropower Association.

As part of its management role, the HS Secretariat design and deliver training and accreditation courses to practitioners in the use of the Hydropower Sustainability Standard and Tools.

The Secretariat also assists hydropower developers and operators to identify accredited assessors for independent project sustainability assessments and certifications.
